A Hoot.
I just came to the realization that I have a thing for owls. I was perusing the anthropologie website when this adorable plate caught my eye. A french owl smoking a pipe. Doesn't get any cuter than that.
Then I realized I am also sporting my Forever 21 Owl necklace today!
I've got this owl Kleenex box on sitting on my desk as well! I did a little detective work and discovered the Illustrator is named Cori Dantini - check out her blog and etsy shop, her illustrations are just adorably whimsical. Hoot hoot!

Thank You Iceland
I just discovered these fantastic commercials for Reyka Vodka via our friends Lindsay and Danny who we had the pleasure of consuming vodka with last weekend at the Russia House.
I love the juxtaposition of the rough, hand drawn animation with a simple video. Add to that, the fact that this girl is just adorable and hilarious.
There are two more here and here.

Design Challenge - Superbowl Party
This week's design challenge is to turn a shabby basement
into a den fit for a Superbowl party!
A replication of Heinz field - complete with terrible towel throwing toddlers.
To deal with the Steeler's loss, we took a ski trip the following day. It's been a long time since I've been on skis but I'm glad to say I only fell once getting off the lift. We're hoping to make another trip before Winter's over.

Heinz Field
Here is a sneak peak at our re-creation of Heinz Field for the Superbowl party. This idea was all Mike, so I'm playing the role of production artist. I feel like I'm Andy Warhol's assistant or the person on one of those interior design shows who doesn't actually have ideas but gets to do work. Still, it's fun to bust out the paints and not have worry about decision making.
Final product to come!

Colorstrology
I think it's fun to read my horoscope but I love how this site gives you your unique Pantone swatch to match your personality. I'm not sure that the description is completely accurate, but coincidentally (or not?!) Coral has been my favorite for some time now.

Save the Date!
Next month my family will be celebrating my grandmother's 85th birthday in California. I was asked to design a save the date email then a printed invite. Since it's an Afternoon Tea, I decided I would bust out the old watercolors and create a personalized Illustration. It's been a LONG time since I've painted and I'm clearly a little rusty. Still, I think it came out alright.
After the painting was scanned I brought it into Photoshop and popped in a picture of my grandma when she was little. It's a little fuzzy, but amazing that this photograph was taken about 80 years ago.
Now that the save the date is done, I get to work on the printed invites. Where did I put that exato knife?
