My New Ride

Work has been totally nutso these last couple of weeks. So this weekend was a much needed respite from it all. I had a Groupon to this little restaurant in Dupont Circle called Cafe Green. It's all vegitarian and all good. It's places like these that make me wish I lived in the city. I would eat delicious, healthy food all the time.

Then later that day, I bought a bike! Last year I signed up for a charity bike ride called the MS 150. About a week before the ride my bike got stolen. I still get all steamed up about that.... But on Saturday I forked over a big chunk of change and got this new baby. Watch out bike trails!

All I Want

Last week, after our fun day of skiing, I came down with the flu. You know, the yucky kind. NO FUN. I couldn't eat for almost 2 days. All I could even think about ingesting was coconut water.

I discovered the wonders of coconut water sometime last year after a Bikram yoga class. It is so delicious and nutritious, I can't get enough.

An interesting tid-bit I just learned from ZICO's website:

In times of famine and war, coconut water has been used as an intravenous fluid and saved many lives. It’s the only natural substance that can be safely injected into the human blood stream.

Hmmmm. Mark my word – coconuts are the way of the future!

Design Challenge - Superbowl Party

This week's design challenge is to turn a shabby basement

into a den fit for a Superbowl party!

A replication of Heinz field - complete with terrible towel throwing toddlers.

To deal with the Steeler's loss, we took a ski trip the following day. It's been a long time since I've been on skis but I'm glad to say I only fell once getting off the lift. We're hoping to make another trip before Winter's over.

Heinz Field

Here is a sneak peak at our re-creation of Heinz Field for the Superbowl party. This idea was all Mike, so I'm playing the role of production artist. I feel like I'm Andy Warhol's assistant or the person on one of those interior design shows who doesn't actually have ideas but gets to do work. Still, it's fun to bust out the paints and not have worry about decision making.

Final product to come!

Myanmar Restaurant

My friend Alvin left the company that I am currently working at last week. On to bigger and better things! I've worked with him for over 4 years so it is really sad to see him go. Not to mention the fact that I will have more work to do…

On Friday he took a group of us to Myanmar Restaurant in falls church where he introduced us to his native Burmese cuisine. It was really fantastic because he and his wife were familiar with the food so they just ordered a big smorgasbord for everyone to sample from.

My favorite was the curry pumpkin. I would love to get a recipe for that and make it at home. Or just go back again!

I was mostly glad that we weren't served a century egg!
